When Nudity and Number 5 Collide

This illustration appeared in Issue #5 of the excellent independent art magazine, Faesthetic. Faesthetic is printed once a year and features emerging and underground artists, photographers, and illustrators. Since the theme of Issue #5 was "FIVE & NUDITY", I chose to illustrate my favorite playing card. Medium: ink on paper, digital color.

Four of Spades - The Pointless Argument

I've decided to post my entire deck of Pleiadian Playing Cards over the course of this year. Some are old and have been posted on the Internets before, some are brand spanking new and have never seen the light of day. The Four of Spades depicts two men engaged in a heated argument over the number four. Uh, I mean 4. No....four. 4. FOUR! 4! ugh, it will never be resolved.

Granny Terrorizes Highway, Makes Threatening Gestures

It was a pleasant Sunday afternoon and I had taken my cherished 1976 Cadillac DeVille out for a spin on the highway. Zooming down the fast lane, I noticed a wildly swerving pickup truck gaining on me and honking. I was going 75mph, but it wasn’t fast enough for the Speedy Gonzales about to run me off the road so I switched lanes to let the driver pass. When I glanced over to check out the crazy person, the exact image you see above is what I saw. An angry diabolical granny, the cotton-candy white hair blowing in the wind, a withered weather-beaten fist shaking at me while her pendulous arms quivered like jello. Her mouth was open wide as she furiously screamed “Get the f*ck out of my way!!!!” as bits of spittle flew about in the wind. The image of her seared into my brain with such clarity that I was able to go home and draw her in my sketchbook later that evening.

One evening I looked out my window and caught a glimpse of the most amazing sunset I've ever seen. It wasn't so much the swirling vivid colors of the sky that caught my eye, it was more the fact the towers seemed alive and pulsating. Perhaps I had other thoughts on my mind. A Pleiadian Deck of Cards

A while back I created an entire deck of playing cards after meeting a strange man in a bar one night. He was very friendly, engaging, well read.....and claimed he had just come to Earth from the Pleiades star cluster. Who am I to doubt him? I finished my wine, went back to my studio, and began working on my Pleiadian Deck of Cards. Here are a few from the collection:

The Five-Booted Grasshopper

The Five-Booted Grasshopper is one of several curious creatures from my Botany in Wonderland series. Scientists are at a loss to explain why this majestic creature wears only five boots when it has six legs and are puzzled further why it chooses to wear shiny vinyl stilettos when it could easily choose a shoe that provides more comfort and stability. Medium: ink and watercolor on page of old book.
