Take a Walk With Me

Every once in a while I become overwhelmed by the world and must escape outdoors to leave it all behind for a few hours.  Yesterday was one of those days.  I turned off the laptop, the cell phone, grabbed the camera and disappeared into Golden Gate Park. Here are some of the things I saw along the way...

I heard some rustling in the sorrel and suddenly a squirrel popped up out of nowhere.

Nature has no shame - that's one of the things I like about it.

Random colors and textures weave themselves together creating stunning visual tapestry. I was so enthralled that I became lost and had no idea where I was. Then I started laughing because I noticed this fuzzy tree creature staring at me....

with that goofy look on his face.

I later came across a shallow pond  of clear water and enjoyed watching tiny creatures flit about under water while reflections of lush trees danced upon the surface.

Soon after stumbling around lost in the woods, I found the path that led me home.

An Uncle Dirty Valentine

Continuing my series of Glistening Super Stars of the Internet, I present to you Uncle Dirty.  A few years ago, Uncle DIrty's nephew posted a photo essay of his 86 year old ex-body builder uncle and I was immediately enthralled.  Uncle Dirty loves his body and walks around most the time wearing nothing but a homemade thong stuffed with various unknown material. He also makes homemade porn using photo collage of body builders and often uses himself as a model.  Despite his eccentricities and dirty mind, Uncle Dirty is devoted to Aunt Alga, his mentally disabled 91 year old wife.

Chocolate Deliciousness Melts Her Heart

I made this Valentine card a while back for the purpose of sending out a hint.   It works every time.

Oh, and just for the heck of it, I'm linking my favorite chocolate store in San Francisco.  They have an entire data base of the finest chocolate ever made and they email secret hidden words to you that will get you a free bar of chocolate when you follow the directions.  Maybe since I gave them a free link, they'll throw a truffle or two my way?  Medium:  Ink on paper, digital color.

The Newest Addition To My Art Collection

About a year ago, I commissioned Chris Crites (The Bag Painter) to paint one of my favorite contemporary celebrity mug shots: Nick Nolte. We both became busy over the year and I had forgotten about it. One day after participating in one of Chris's art shows, I was surprised to find the Nick Nolte painting tucked into the box of my returned art. He GAVE it to me. No charge at all. Not only is he an insanely talented and hard working artist, he's one of the kindest individuals I've ever met. All his paintings are created using bright acrylic on brown paper bags. Says Chris, "I try to bring new life to these practically discarded portraits of criminal and human history. Using an everyday, disposable item as the surface gives new life to the bag as well.
